Innovative treatment of fungal nails with “clearanail” device
What is a fungal nail?
Fungal nail infection (Onychomycosis) is the same infection as Athlete’s foot but under the nail. Once the fungus makes its way through the nail plate it can be hard to treat with topical antifungal medication; while oral medication work for less than 4 out of 10 patients and carry significant risk to the liver.
What is Clearanail?
Clearanail is an exciting new product for treating fungal nail infection. It is a specialised medical drill that creates tiny holes (0.4mm) in the infected nail. This allows antifungal medication to reach the site of infection more rapidly and helps speed up the treatment process.
Does this hurt?
Most patients experience no discomfort with the treatment as the built-in computer system automatically stop and retracts the drill as soon as it reaches the sensitive nail bed. Occasionally patients have experienced a slight pricking sensation during the drill but nothing further.
